High School to Higher Education Pipeline Program
The High School to Higher Education (H2H) Pipeline Program was developed by Dr. LaDonia Patterson and Dr. Gaea Daniel to facilitate entry into the nursing profession for Black males. The goal is to provide mentoring, guidance, and resources needed to get Black male high school and college students on a trajectory to attaining a successful career in nursing.
The H2H Program was started in 2020 using funds awarded through the 2020 Nursing Innovations Fund and the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action, an initiative of AARP Foundation, AARP, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Program aims include:
Mitigate systemic barriers that prevent Black males from pursuing a career in nursing
Build a network to support Black males in nursing
Diversify the nursing workforce
Promote health and health equity for minority communities
