SPEAKER information
Dr. Hinkle is a family physician in rural Alabama who is passionate about health policy, especially as it relates to rural healthcare, medical education, quality and value-based care, and using data to improve care. Dr. Tate is helping practices, rural hospitals, RHCs, and FQHCs navigate the transition to value-based care. Dr. Tate has wide-ranging experiences in national, state, and local organized medicine, giving him a broad view of healthcare challenges at all levels. He is bringing his perspective and experiences of healthcare and health policy to improve care delivery and medical education to achieve equitable and quality outcomes for communities.
Presentation: Rural Health Equity: Creating Sustainable Solutions
Learning Objectives:
1. Define Rural Health Equity
2. Describe the importance of achieving health equity on a national level
3. Explain how to incorporate the five key priorities of CMS’s framework forHealth Equity into daily practice
4. Engage in dialogue and exchange of ideas with other participants to identify best practices and opportunities for collaboration in addressing rural health equity
Randy Smith obtained the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Valdosta State University and the Master of Science in Nursing and Health Systems Management from The Ohio State University. He is a certified Nurse Executive Advanced (NEA-C) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Mr. Smith is known for building interprofessional teams, inspiring change, and his collaborative leadership style. His leadership history includes a diverse background in union and non-unionized environments, multi-hospital systems, military, pediatric, and academic medical center settings. He is currently the Chief Operating Officer/Chief Nursing Officer (COO/CNO) for South Georgia Medical Center, a not-for-profit regional referral health system comprised of a main campus and three satellite campuses that serve 400,000 residents in a 15-county medical service area covering South Georgia and North Florida.
